The Position: This is a great opportunity for an individual looking to start their career in science and technology and will provide the candidate with the opportunity to develop new skills and experience in chemistry, sensor technology, optical physics and test and measurement instrumentation, within a highly regarded research and development organisation. Training will be provided in all aspects of the job, with a view to the candidate becoming a skilled Technician.

Responsibilities: The position will involve assisting with surface coating chemistry for the development of a new chemical sensor, alongside sensor experimental validation and testing. Specific tasks will include:
There will be the opportunity to acquire further knowledge and skills, as dictated by the needs of the technology development, for which additional training will be provided.
There is the opportunity for the candidate to progress to a more independent role designing experiments, analysing data and interpreting results. Longer term, this role could progress to that of a lead production or test engineer as the technology evolves into a product.
The Location: The Gill Group is based in Lymington, in the New Forest district of Hampshire. This is a great place to live and work because of the large tourist industry, based on proximity to the New Forest and its harbour. It is a major yachting centre with three marinas. It faces Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, to which there is a car ferry service. We are within walking distance to public transportation, and in a great area for getting lunch.
With close access to the M27 (M3) and train line to Brockenhurst to allow direct mainline services to London and surrounding areas it provides a good location for both commuting to and travelling from.
